Morghan King joined the VIRUS team in 2015 and has since then accomplished some miraculous feats on her Olympic journey. Morghan grew up in Redmond, Washington where she became a high school state champion soccer player and also participated in triathlons. After her successful high school soccer career Morghan received a scholarship to Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA where she graduated with a degree in graphic design. Morghan first discovered her passion and talent for weightlifting shortly after beginning CrossFit in the summer of 2012. In 2013 Morghan decided to to fully dedicate herself to the sport and began training in Charlotte, North Carolina the home of Muscle Driver USA coached by Glenn Pendlay. Since then Morgan has also trained at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado under the watchful eye of Zygmunt Smalcerz and Shahin Nasirinia. Morghan competes in the 48kg (106 lbs) division and is one of the few people on the planet that can clean and jerk more than double body weight. During the 2016 Olympic Trials/National Championships King was able to total 180.0kg (397 lbs) total, a personal best and secure herself as the 48kg National Champion and qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Team. During the 2016 Rio Olympics Morghan broke the Women’s 48kg Snatch American Record with an 83kg lift and placed 6th in the world in the Women’s 48kg Olympic Class.
